What team can go 16-0?

Colts QB Peyton Manning, left, and Saints QB Drew Brees.

Both teams are offensively gifted, but the Saints have an outstanding defense, along with healthy players. Dwight Freeney isn’t 50%, and Bob Sanders is just coming back, which will spark the team.

Tough games coming up

No Respect:Rondo vs. Chris Paul?

Alright let me start by saying Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA and Rondo is probably top 10, maybe. Yes Rondo has a ring, but he has a load of talent around him and he isnt in the same conference as Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. For Rondo to talk trash to Paul is kind of hiliarious. If we switched roles for one season, the Celtics would probably lost 5-10 games.

The Ring

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeskeets/sets/72157622558690789/show/

The Jeweler: High-profile jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills created the rings from a special batch of 15-karat Laker gold to commemorate their 15th NBA championship. Most rings are 14-karat gold.

The Jewels: The ring is comprised of 15 diamonds weighing in at 2.85 carats. (Note: Khloe’s is 9 carats.)

The Price: It’s tough to say. Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times figures each ring is worth “at least $10,000.” That sounds way too low. In fact, I know someone that knows someone who was given an “employee ring” a few years that was about $7,000 itself. I imagine the “player ice” is considerably more expensive. If I had to guess the Lakers’ price tag, I’d say $30K.

The Design: This is cool: The ring mirrors the shape of the exterior of their home arena, the Staples Center. When viewed from the side, you can see the “roof” and “sides” of the Lakers’ home court. Also, each player has an image of his face inscribed on the side of his ring, the first time such a feature had been included on NBA championship rings.

The Box: Yes, the box. When opened, each box has two built-in LED spotlights that actually shine on the ring. Oh, the ring is also mounted on a rotating mechanical platform. The box is basically a mini-nightclub.

I’m broke

How do you waste 110 million dollars? Ask Fat Walker.

“[Walker] liked to move in an outsized entourage; his mother estimates that, during his playing days, he was supporting 70 friends and family members in one way or another. And speaking of his mother, he built her a mansion in the Chicago suburbs, complete with an indoor pool, 10 bathrooms, and a full-size basketball court. [...]

Living at the Bishops Forest condominium complex in Waltham during the Celtics season, Walker turned the pavement surrounding his home into a virtual luxury car lot — two Bentleys, two Mercedes, a Range Rover, a Cadillac Escalade, a bright red Hummer. Often, the vehicles were tricked out with custom paint jobs, rims, and sound systems at considerable added expense. He also collected top-line watches — Rolexes and diamond-encrusted Cartiers.”

Hot Dog anyone?

I really don’t see the problem with this. Maybe the dude was just extremely hungry and a trainer or water boy snuck him a dog. Whats wrong with that? especially when the other team hadn’t even scored yet!

2010 Olympic Medals

– The medals of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games are circular in shape and based on a large master artwork of an orca whale by Corrine Hunt, a Canadian designer/artist of Komoyue and Tlingit heritage. Each of the medals has a unique hand-cropped section of the abstract art, making every medal one-of-a-kind.

– They are among the heaviest medals in Olympic, weighing between 500 grams to 576 g depending on the medal.

– Each feature a different crop of larger contemporary Aboriginal artworks and are undulating rather than flat — both firsts in Games history.  The dramatic form of the Vancouver 2010 medals is inspired by the ocean waves, drifting snow and mountainous landscape found in the Games region and throughout Canada.
